Wales – A Journey Through Light, Landscape & Life

Wales – A Journey Through Light, Landscape & Life

In May 2025, we embarked on a three-week road trip through Wales, traveling from the dramatic cliffs of the south coast to the rugged peaks of Snowdonia and the serene beaches of Anglesey. This journey was a celebration of natural light, wild scenery, and everyday moments, captured entirely straight out of camera, in line with my documentary and natural-light photography approach.

From photographing puffins on Skomer Island and capturing the iconic silhouette of Tryfan at Llyn Ogwen, to chasing light at South Stack Lighthouse and walking the length of deserted beaches like Black Rock Sands, this trip offered incredible variety. The scenery shifted daily—from windswept cliffs, sandy bays, and waterfalls, to forests, castles, and moody mountain passes.

Traveling with my wife and our two border collies, this trip was also about connection—to place, to pace, and to those we shared it with. The dogs were ever-present companions, making every hike, every swim, and even every muddy trail, all the more memorable.

Over the course of nearly 6,000 km and 300,000 steps, I sought to tell the story of Wales not just in postcard moments, but in the quiet light between rainstorms, the texture of ancient stone, and the motion of the sea.
